Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Park, Estes Park, Colorado

After leaving a very unlevel USFS site, we were pressed to find a place to stay for a night. My Google searches yielded this park, which had a spot for us. A large Park with well over 100 sites, Elk Lodge and RV Park has quite a few perks and ended up exceeding our expectations! Friendly staff helped us get checked in and guided us to our site. There, we found the usual RV park spacing and lack of privacy between sites. But, what we did find is a level (yeah!) gravel pad and excellent views of The Rockies! Every site in the park has virtually unobstructed views of snow capped mountains. After a long, stressful day of trying to find a place to rest our heads, we were thrilled to be able to find this park with such outstanding views. The park is located just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park's Estes Park entrance. In fact, the next morning we saw the line of eager tourists creeping slowly toward the kiosk from camp. The campground has a great laundry room, playground, miniature golf, a pond, a small shop with RV supplies, a grill, ice machine, off leash pet play area, and trash pickup from your site. There is also a large walking loop amd grassy field where we enjoyed a bit of wiffle ball as the mountain peaks watched over us. There are tent sites and small cabins available. The park is a few miles out of crowded Estes Park, but a free shuttle can take you downtown. This park is a lovely spot to settle to explore The Rockies and all the hustle and bustle Estes Park offers.
