This was our second visit to Glacier National Park and we decided to stay at Many Glacier Campground as it was off the main Going to the Sun Road and we figured less busy. The day use areas filled up quickly, and the campground was booked solid, so I'm not sure how "less busy" this part of the park is. However, we LOVED the location of the campground in relation to the various hiking trails in this portion of the park. There is a large lodge and a smaller Motor Inn, both within walking distance of camp. The Motor Inn has a nicely appointed market, souvenier shop, soft serve, and concessions. The lodge has finer dining available. The campground itself it forested with pines, aspens and cottonwoods. Interior roads are paved and site pads are dirt/gravel and mostly level. These primitive sites offer decent privacy, and depending on location, are either heavily forested with lots of shade, or more sun exposure with fantastic views of the mountain peaks. Sites have fire pits and picnic tables and room for a tent, and a common bear locker is found every 4 or 5 sites. Most sites are pull thru. Restrooms are available. A ranger station along with a watercraft inspection site is adjacent to camp. The campground and sites have some tight turns, so I would definitely consider a 30-32 foot maximum length here and closely adhere to all site restrictions. Reservations are highly recommended, and although "best" and "poor" sites are listed below, I honestly would secure whatever I could get.
