This just might be my favorite RV park. Located southeast of Dallas, this park is in the small town of Grapeland, which doesn't have much to offer except this gem. The property is family owned and great care has been taken in the building up of this property. The park boasts something for everyone, whether it is the collection of rust bucket vintage cars throughout the property, the old buildings that number enough to create a small, old western town, the stage for concerts, or the small lake with a huge waterslide for wading in to stay cool. Both day use and overnighters are welcome here. There are cabins for rent that spot the lakeside edge. Or, RV sites with hookups can be found in the meadows, or of you're lucky, along the lake. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, you can rent the open air treehouse! Ramadas with picnic tables can be found around the lake and some are available for rent for the day. There are also two large shaded/covered shelters that would be excellent to remt for reunions or rallies. Speaking of which, the park has hundreds of RV sites, making it an ideal situation for RV rallies. There are many things to explore here and large gathering places for groups, including some of the buildings themselves. Several times a year, usually aligned with the big holiday weekends of Labor Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day, and some in between, you can enjoy the variety of music fests hosted here. Everything from gospel to bluegrass to country music is featured at the variety of festival offerings. There is also a small ice cream shop, which was closed for renovations during our stay. There are several geocaches on site for hunters. Sites are all grassy and fairly level with full hookups. There are no picnic tables or fire pits, so bring your own. Some sites are shady and others are in the sunshine. We a had a blast here hanging out in the lake, spending time on the pier, and watching kids enjoy the handmade, what looked to be 75 foot water slide that is made from lumber and a long tarp. We were impressed with its durability and speed at which kids rocketed out of the slide into the lake. We definitely will come back here another time to enjoy one of the many festivals.
