Leaf Verde RV Resort, Buckeye, Arizona

Each spring, we head to the Phoenix area for MLB Spring Training. Over the years we have learned a few things about a spring Phoenix stay. The weather in Phoenix this time of year can vary greatly due to changing seasons. Most importantly, book your site early, as snowbirds flock to Phoenix for mild winter weather, NASCAR races, and MLB Spring Training. Families will find this more difficult as many RV resorts in the area are 55+ only resorts, limiting your options. This past spring, we found our usual resort to be booked solid. So, we opted for Leaf Verde RV Resort. This resort is
much like the others in the area and convenient to the I-10. Located west of Phoenix/Glendale, Buckeye has developed in recent years and a Cracker Barrel, Walmart, gas, and eateries are all within close range of the park. The park itself offers a couple hundred sites, most of which are occupied by long-term RVers. A section of the park has been earmarked as "deluxe" offering wider sites. Another row has been slotted for overnight/short term stays. Other regions of the park have been designated as non-smoking sites, which we found to be a wonderful addition to the RV resort world. The park, home to many long-term residents is clean and offers a variety of activities. A dog run, showers, laundry, picnic area, pickleball and shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, pool, lounge, and even a hair salon are on site. For those wishing to fill up on propane, a fill is available, along with a car wash area to freshen up your rig's exterior. Interior roads are paved, but sites are a hard packed sand/gravel mix. Arrivals must be in by 10 pm, as the front gate closes and access is not permitted. We enjoyed our quick stay here, but found the front office closing time of 5 pm a bit early.
