If you haven't been here recently, Flying Flags has undergone a recent remodel after a change of ownership. The park is a delightful place to spend a few days to either relax at camp or explore all the area has to offer. Flying Flags is a spectacular RV park in Buellton offering over 350 sites and is located about four miles west of the quaint Solvang village, the Danish Capitol of America. After hearing from a friend that the resort had been remodeled, we decided to give this place a try! We, too, found Flying Flags to be conveniently located to the area's interesting sights, clean, scenic and quiet.
We enjoyed staying in the Premium Plus sites which are found in the newer section of the park. All sites offer
full hookups, landscaping, paved pads, and the space between sites is typical of an RV park. Amenities here include a convenience store and well-stocked gift shop; the delicious Campfire Café which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; 24 hour laundry facilities; friendly staff; a small gym; large pool and spa (a second pool is coming soon); horseshoes; bocce ball courts; a water sprayer play pad for children; dog park; playground; a rec room with a pool table, TVs and a kitchen; and a beautiful common area fire pit. For those traveling without an RV, a variety of lodging options are available including, safari tents, cabins, and cottages. All are new and offer wonderful amenities, but at a high sticker price. Common activities are scheduled for weekend visitors and include movie nights by the pool and their Famous Friday Night BBQ and Seafood Platter. We were also surprised to receive warm cookies upon check in! The Campfire Café is not to be missed either, with hand-scooped ice cream and a delicious menu of sandwiches, burgers, and salads!
Within just a few miles you will find the Chumash Casino, Firestone Brewing Company, Figueroa Brewery, Mendenhall's Museum of Gasoline Pumps & Petroliana, Solvang, Vintage Motorcycle Museum, an ostrich farm, and the La Purisima and Santa Ines Missions. Within walking/biking distance you will find several restaurants and convenience markets.
