Craters of the Moon KOA, Arco, Idaho

This KOA in the small town of Arco, is located about twenty miles north of Craters of the Moon National Monument. We debated whether or not to stay at the local RV park or the chain KOA but after two rude phone encounters with the neighboring park, we opted to stay at the KOA. Typical of KOA's, this park has all the usual amenities, including a small playground, horseshoes, and tetherball, pool, bike rentals, free breakfast, hookups, laundry, propane, pet playground, and a small store. A National Park ranger also hosted a ranger talk, and an ice cream social was available for a small fee. We loved being greeted by a nice cooler of
beer as we walked into the office for a refreshing drink after a long drive. The hosts here were outstanding and worked very hard to keep guests happy and the grounds maintained. Sites here are typical of a KOA, a bit close together, no privacy, and gravel pads. A few cabins, tent sites and teepees are available for overnights as well. The convenience to the National Monument, however, is worth the stay. The small town of Arco is a short walk or bike ride away. We enjoyed this stay, especially the free waffle breakfast which was cooked by the hosts.
