Seacliff State Beach, Aptos, California

This California State Beach just south of Santa Cruz is a beautiful, beachfront spot to spend a few days. Sites are difficult to obtain here, so reservations are a must, especially during summer months. All sites are along the beachfront, offering unobstructed views of the ocean. Sites are close together and offer no privacy from your neighbor, however most people are willing to sacrifice privacy for the beach access, beautiful views and amenities of camp. Some sites offer full hookups, while others are completely dry camping. We actually preferred the dry camping sites in loops A and B since they allow you to pull in nose
first and take advantage of the ocean views through the front window of our class A. Hookups sites must be backed into, taking away from the ocean view from inside the rig. Hookup sites also differ from non-hookup sites in that they each have a curbed, sand-filled area between each site. We found that this could make parking a challenge, restricts patio setup and only brought more unwanted sand into the rig. We also didn't find the close proximity of a neighbor's sewer hookup to be appealing.
Tons of amenities are available here, including: a beachside cafĂ©, a boardwalk that spans the beach and connects bikers and walkers to other state beaches, restrooms, pier, visitor's center and of course, the beach itself. A bar, restaurant and market are just south of the campground and easily accessible via the biking path. Just a few miles north is the fun and playful Santa Cruz Boardwalk, fun for kids of all ages.
