Astoria/Warrenton/Seaside KOA, Hammond, Oregon

Located just across the street from Oregon's Fort Stevens State Park, this KOA has some nice amenities that made our impromptu stay quite pleasant. Coastal, yet not adjacent to water, temperatures here are moderate year round, allowing guests to enjoy all of the park's amenities, including: bike rentals, giant jump pillow, volleyball and basketball courts, horseshoes, playground and dog run. An outdoor covered camping kitchen offers guests and larger groups a nice gathering place. The indoor pool and spa was especially enjoyed during our stay since we had some inclement weather to
endure. Guests also can enjoy a free pancake breakfast each morning of their stay! Typical of KOAs, sites are available for tenters, RVers and also those wishing to stay in small cabins. The campground has some sites that are especially wooded and scenic in the A through E loops, however satellite signals are difficult to acquire as a result. Spots are all big rig friendly and the campground's perimeter is surrounded by trees, providing a scenic view at camp. Sites all have fire rings, picnic tables and hookups. With various historic sites and towns within close proximity, this KOA is a nice base camp for travelers.

Ever since I rented an RV in an attempt to convince my family that “camping” didn’t have to be so dreadful, but now I’m tempted to retire early and travel after the kids leave home. It would be a good way to keep them from moving back in too! We were in California mostly, then Washington and Oregon, but it looks like we have to go back to stay at this enticing KOA. In years past, when we would travel, the kids fought a lot. This year, my Dish coworker suggested I take the tablet PC’s; the whole family watched TV, sometimes through the media system too. We streamed live and recorded TV from our Sling Adapter at home, and then just pulled up the programming on the Dish Remote Access App. It saved us from yelling at the kids for fighting, and entertained us when we were driving.
