Ryan Campground, Joshua Tree National Park, Twentynine Palms, California

One of several campgrounds within Joshua Tree National Park, Ryan Campground is centrally located within the park. Spotted with Joshua Trees and a few boulder piles typical of Joshua Tree, this camp offers nice views of surrounding mountains. The camp is not as pretty and unique as some of the other campgrounds here and is more exposed to the elements, namely wind, whereas other campgrounds have neat niches where individual campsites are protected and private. A small, primitive campground with around 30 sites, this camp offers picnic
tables, fire rings and dirt pads.  Campsite pads are small, and we found that our rig, and most rigs at that, would have a hard time finding a site even close to accommodating our size needs.  Additionally, many pads are two or three "parking spots" adjacent to each other, thus better suited for tent campers. All sites here are first-come, first-served, so arrive early during the parks busiest time of year, spring.
