Big Pine Campground, Custer, South Dakota

With a nice mixture of RV resort amenities and a rustic camping feel, this camp offers tent-specific sites as well as RV sites with hookups. Located just a mile out of the city limits of Custer in the heart of the Black Hills of South Dakota, this camp is one of the closest to Jewel Cave National Monument, which is an interesting place to explore. Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Monument both just a few miles to the east. Set off the highway, campsites are beneath a canopy of pines, offer fire pits and picnic tables in addition to water, electric and some sites with sewer. We found some sites to
be awkwardly placed, while others were spacious and scenic. The campground is rustic with dirt and gravel interior roads, yet offers a playground, laundry, a small store, a game room, bathhouses and friendly hosts who can answer all your questions about what to see here. Although we prefer to stay at nearby Bismark Lake or one of the other Custer State Park campgrounds, this alternative is nice as
well.
