Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, Millington,Tennessee

Sitting beneath the canopy of trees within the Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park will make you feel like you are in the middle of a rainforest. Trees over 200 feet high, an abundant amount of butterflies and a green forest floor provide a scenic, 49 site campground. Only sites 1-5 are available for reservations, but we found the campground at only 1/8 of it's capacity on a weekend in mid-summer and you really can't go wrong selecting a scenic site here. Sites are all paved, with a campfire ring, BBQ and plenty of space to spread out.  The park is huge, with many amenities to enjoy, including: fishing and boating on two lakes, boat launches to the lakes and the Mississippi River, a
visitor's center, pool, several picnic shelters, many playgrounds, hiking trails, biking/pedestrian trail and a marina. One thing to note is that a tow vehicle is ideal here since most amenities are not accessible to the campground by bike or foot since the park is so large and spread out.
