Refugio State Beach, Santa Barbara, California

This beach cove just north of Santa Barbara is a beautiful place to park your rig for a few days. The waves are calm and great for kids to dabble in the water. Refugio campground is speckled with coastal shrubs and palm trees. Some sites afford a great view of the ocean and sunsets, while others lack that amazing view. Sites vary on size, some small and almost on top of your neighbor, while others have a more private feel to them. One downside are the train tracks that run behind the camp. Although they do not pose a safety issue, they can be noisy. Some of the best sites here are the group sites that are set apart from
camp and offer spectacular views of the ocean and sunsets.
