Ponderosa Campground, Cody, Wyoming

Cody is a small Old West town with lots to see and do. Ponderosa Campground is a fabulous place to stay for several reasons. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff who spent at least twenty minutes going over things to see, how to get there, and what to avoid. All sites are clean, have full hookups and a picnic table, and most sites are shaded. There are no fire pits here. Laundry, an arcade and a well-equipped gift shop are available on the premises. This RV park is within walking distance of the main town, or if you'd like, a city bus can take you there for a nominal fee. Each night of the week
there is a hometown Cody Rodeo and a bus stops at the RV park to transport you to and from the festivities. Old Trail Town is another interesting place to take in some history of the old west, and is a short drive from the park. Every evening, except Sundays, there is a shootout between cowboys in downtown Cody, and although it's a little cheesy, the kids love the action. Also near the RV park is the Miniature Museum which has a huge scenic train display where kids (and adults!) can operate the trains while taking in the history of the old west and within walking distance of the park is the Buffalo Bill Museum which you can easily spend a day or two in learning about the old west. The best part of Cody has to be the iconic Cassie's Supper Club; a whorehouse gone saloon/dancing/restaurant. Cassie's has phenomenal food and a great, fun atmosphere for all ages!
