Leo Carrillo State Park, Malibu, California

Leo Carrillo is unique in that it is along the coast, but not beachfront. Instead, it is set along a creek among sycamore trees and shrubs. The sites along the creek are most scenic and shaded. Sites offer paved pads, picnic tables and campfire rings. Most sites are level and offer little to moderate privacy from neighbors. Pads accommodate rigs no longer than 31 feet, so tent campers and small RVers abound here. A few sites off electric hookups. The campground is rather large, with over 90 sites. Walk about a 1/2 mile away from camp and you will discover the beach, which is a pretty place to spend an afternoon exploring tide pools, caves, sunning, or surfing. Because the campground is set along the inland side of Highway 1, it is often a bit warmer and calmer at camp than at the beach. During the summer season, a small camp store with supplies, groceries and hot coffee is open.  Site-specific reservations
can be made up to six months in advance, and during the summer months spots are reserved within minutes of being released by the reservation system, so plan ahead.

Our favorite spot to camp when there's a really low tide... exploring the tidepools is so much fun!

Good news...Leo Carillo's campsite reservations now ARE site-specific! A bonus if you know which sites you want.
