Just east of Custer, you will find Bismarck Lake Campground. True to its name, this campground is set on a lake, and a beautiful one at that. The campground is small, with fewer than 25 sites. The campground is settled in a forested area just outside of Custer State Park, and accessing the State Park from here is easy and fast. The lake is small and many fishermen and kayakers frequent the lake. Wildlife such as squirrels, chipmunks and beavers frequent the area. The lake is easily accessible from the campground via staircases and
a beautiful dock lies at the edge of the lake for you to fish from. Within an hours drive you will find Mt. Rushmore National Monument, Jewel Cave National Park and Wind Cave National Park. This is a great location to spend several days at to rest and relax, or use as a home base while visiting the area's many sights.
